Paper Hanging Decorations – Christmas Crafts 

Tis’ the season to be jolly and get creative! Christmas is the perfect time to dive into the world of crafts, adding a personal touch to your décor with paper-hanging decorations that are sure to bring feelings of nostalgia. 

These easy-to-do crafts are fun for the whole family and are a great way to bring family and friends together over a simple festive activity. 

Quick and crafty activities like these are great for cosy winter evenings, helping everyone get into the festive spirit.

Making Paper Hanging Decorations

At Festive Lights this year, we have 4 different paper hanging decorations allowing you to easily craft your DIY paper garland. We’ve got a cute snowman design, a paper lantern DIY, a traditional angel, and a tree-mendous paper tree ornament; these range from £4.99 to £6.99. 

These cute paper ornaments come supplied with battery-powered LED lights and a handy 6-hour timer function making a great addition to your indoor decorations.  

How to craft a snowman, angel or tree paper hanging decoration 

You will need: 

  • White paper sheets with angel silhouettes (supplied) 
  1. Before beginning, switch the LED lights on and ensure that they’re fully working, turn them off for installation.  
  1. Grab the scissors and neatly cut out the relevant shapes. 
  1. Thread the LED lights through the shapes, evenly spacing them apart on the wire for a neat appearance.  
  1. Next, pick a place to hang your retro paper garland, this could be above a fireplace, above a sofa or just about anywhere you see fit! 
  1. Carefully hang the lights with command decorating clips, securing one LED bulb in the clip for a secure hold. 
  1. Lastly, switch on the lights and choose your lighting function, including static and twinkling. Watch as your brand-new Christmas decorations glow. TOP TIP: The lights also have a 6-hour timer function, meaning you’re able to control when your lights are on and off with ease. 

How to craft a paper hanging lantern

You will need:  

  • Paper sheets for lantern pattern (supplied) 
  • Scissors 
  • Warm white LED’s (supplied) 
  • Ribbon (supplied) 
  • Drawing pins  
  • 3 AAA Batteries  
  1. Before beginning, switch the LED lights on and ensure that they’re fully working, turn them off for installation.  
  1. Then, grab your scissors and follow the instructions to cut out the shape of the paper lantern.  
  1. After this, thread the ribbon supplied onto the paper lantern so the ribbons are alternating between red and green.  
  1. Neatly tie the lanterns onto the lights at even spaces apart for a tidy appearance. 
  1. Carefully hang the lanterns in your desired place using drawing pins that fit between the 2 twisting wires, ensuring you don’t pierce the wire in the process! These lanterns will look great above a fireplace or on a feature wall.  
  1. Finally, turn the lights on and select your preferred setting, this includes static and twinkling. Now it’s time to sit back and marvel at the beauty of your brand-new paper lanterns! TOP TIP: The lights also have a 6-hour timer function, meaning you’re able to control when your lights are on and off with ease. 

Let’s get Creative! Paper Christmas Ornaments  

The great thing about paper decorations is that they double up as a great way for us to bring out our creative sides.  

Why not decorate the angels before hanging them? This could be a fun activity for the whole family! Add a personal touch by having each person pitch in and help with decorating. You could, paint, draw or cover them in glitter, the choice is yours!
