Derian House Children’s Hospice: The £50 Business Challenge

At Festive Lights, we love giving back to the charities we feel passionate about.

Our relationship with Derian House Children’s Hospice spans back years, with us working with them on a number of occasions, supporting the amazing and invaluable work that they do.

In 2022 we donated over 100m of string lights to the charity, helping to add a little bit of sparkle to the Christmas’ of those they care for and their families. As well as this, we’ve previously donated Christmas trees to their garden and ran events specifically to raise funds for Derian House.

What is the £50 Business Challenge?

In March we attended a networking event for the launch of the 2024 £50 Business Challenge.

Businesses across the northwest were handed £50, with the promise of transforming it into a much bigger amount. This can be done in a variety of ways, as long as that £50 is turned into much more!

The challenge is running from April to July, and we’ve got lots planned to help us raise as much as we can to help them continue their valuable work, that means so much to so many people.

Derian House said:
“We want businesses across the area to take £50 from Derian House and turn it into much more! This is a challenge for companies of all sizes to fundraise for our children and families from April to July 2024”.

We recently ran an office sweepstake for the Grand National, which helped us to get a head start. Keep an eye on our socials to see what else we have in the works over the next few months.

About Derian House

Derian House provides respite and end-of-life care to babies, children, and young people up to the age of 26 across the northwest.

The nature of the charity means they do this 24/7, 365 days a year. The care they provide is free for the families, but naturally, this comes at a cost to themselves.

It costs over £6 million per year for Derian House to continue their valuable work, with only 30% of funding coming from the government. The other 70% is raised by them and companies like us that put their heart and soul into funding the care given to those who need it. This care isn’t solely for their patients, it expands to immediate family giving them a helping hand through the toughest of times.

If you’d like to help us with our business Challenge, you can donate any amount here.  All proceeds go towards Derian House and the care they provide.
