“Festive Lights? – what do you do for the rest of the year then?”

“I work at a company called Festive Lights.”

“Festive Lights? – what do you do for the rest of the year then?”

…Trust me when I say that this is a conversation that everyone who has ever worked here has had. I can totally understand it too. I mean, the company name contains the word ‘festive’, which, if you look in the dictionary, can be defined as ‘relating to a festival; especially Christmas’ and we do sell rather a large number of Christmas lights. We don’t just sell Christmas lights though!

If you now switch from your dictionary to your thesaurus – bear with me, this is going somewhere – you’ll see that synonyms of ‘cheerful’ include both ‘joyful’ and ‘happy’. So basically what I’m trying to say is that festive lights need not only be reserved for Christmas and neither should Festive Lights!

I can also confirm to you that we don’t only work for one month of the year either (as much as that would be quite nice). In fact, even if we did sell nothing but Christmas lights, that still takes months and months of planning and preparation – believe it or not our planning for Christmas 2019 is already well underway!

Home lighting resources

Decorative lights can be used throughout the year; in the home, in the garden or at events, so these are what we concentrate on more through the rest of the year. Think of the lights you have at home – not the main room light as we’ve not branched out that far yet, but any lamps or more decorative lights – and that’s what we’re talking about here.

Lights for all four seasons!

To reinforce that lights aren’t just for the ‘festive’ period, consider these four images. One or two may clearly belong to a particular season in your opinion, but do the others? There are plenty of uses for decorative lights through the whole year!

Christmas isn’t the only seasonal event

It’s by far the biggest, but there are other holidays and celebrations besides Christmas. In recent years, we’ve seen more people celebrating the likes of Halloween and Valentine’s Day, with our ranges expanding to accommodate the increased demand. I hope that you now have a better understanding of what else we do here at Festive Lights, and that if you ever encounter one of us out in the wild, you’ll no longer need to ask ‘what do you do for the rest of the year?!’
