These times of uncertainty at the moment have highlighted the importance of recognising and acknowledging the amazing work being carried out by key workers all across the UK. It is especially important to try and bring light to these dark days, by sharing as much joy and as many stories of hope as possible, to encourage and motivate everyone to stay strong through this unprecedented global challenge.
As our way of saying thank you to all the amazing people who are working to protect us through this, we have installed a ‘Tree Of Hope’ at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan, which is local to our head office.

The Wigan NHS Tree of Hope was switched on for the first time on Thursday the 7th of May in alternating NHS blue and rainbow displays, to honour the work of the hospital staff, and it will be lit every Thursday at 8pm to form part of the weekly clap for carers held outside the hospital.
Using cloud-based technology, from the click of a button, the 9,000 LEDs on the tree can be transformed for any event and we hope to see it shining for years to come.
Stephen Alty, our General Manager said, “This is about us, as an organisation, saying thank you to the NHS and helping them spread their message for people to stay safe and at home.” Whilst Mary Fleming, WWL’s Chief Operating Officer said, “To have something so prominent at the front of our hospital really does serve as a reminder of all the hard work and dedication of our staff across the whole of the Trust and the wider Wigan Borough.” Adding, “A big thank you must go to Festive Lights for installing the tree; it really is fantastic.”
