What is Joy-Drenching?
If, like us, you spend your evenings scrolling through TikTok in search of the latest home-inspo trends, you may have come across the term ‘Joy-Drenching’, particularly in this year’s lead up to Christmas.
But what exactly is Joy-Drenching, and why are people loving incorporating it into their homes this festive season? Well, as the self-proclaimed ‘Sharers of Joy’, we thought it was only right that we put our money where our mouth is and give you a little insight into this year’s jolliest trend.

‘Joy-Drenching’ is a little play on another big trend this year, Colour Drenching. This involves surrounding your living space from top to toe in a block colour. Be is a soft sage or bright yellow, people are encompassing (drenching) their homes in unique colours, projecting their personalities from wall to wall.
Joy-Drenching is basically the same thing – surrounding your home in bright and bold splashes of colour, and being 100%, unapologetically you. But with Christmas decs!
We’ve seen a record-boom of people embracing the magic and wonder of multicoloured lights this year. Whether it’s icy blue and white icicle lights or magical multicoloured string lights, people are embracing the retro 90’s styling we fondly remember. These bright colours ignite that warm fuzzy feeling we all yearn for and releases an all-so important dopamine kick, sparking joy and bringing a great big smile to your face.

The use of these eye-catching colours rekindles memories of childhood whimsy and magic – but what we love the most about Joy-Drenching, is that it all comes down to preference.
A big trend online this year has been de-influencing – basically, going off-piste, ignoring the stereotypical trends and embracing your personal taste. Whether that be surrounding your home is Candy Cane sweetness or transforming your living room into something straight out of Whoville – people are embracing the fun and unleashing the joy around their homes – and we’re all here for it.
