We’re 25 – It’s Our Birthday!
The year was 1999 –
Tarzan just graced the big screen; the London Eye was in construction; and the nation was on pins questioning what was going to happen when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve.
While the UK was bopping along to Mambo No. 5, our founder Mark was off to Taiwan on a business venture. There, he was offered a container of Christmas lights, and the rest, as they say, is history. Festive Lights officially launched in September 1999, which can only mean one thing…
IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY!
From humble beginnings to worldwide shipping, we’re proud to say that we have paved the way for the lighting industry. And after 25 years, we have a lot to brag about…
- We launched Festive Lights for Business in 2024, leading us to working alongside 5 of the UK’s major electrical suppliers.
- We ship to over 180 countries across 5 continents!
- We’ve donned the likes of Liverpool Football Club, The Eden Project, The Tate Modern, Wembley Stadium, and Chester Zoo in dazzling light – we even decked out Cristiano Ronaldo’s house!
- We’ve supported local charities, hospitals and events, donating thousands of pounds (and bulbs) to the likes of Wigan Hospital, Derian House Children’s Hospice, and Joining Jack.
- Smile for the camera! Our lights have featured on This Morning, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, and The X-Factor.
Phew!
But, as with every booming business, it’s the people behind the brand who make the difference. Starting out as just Mark and his wife Margaret, the brand grew and they enlisted the help of their children, who then brought their friends and family on board, and so on and so on…Now, we’re 80 people strong, so it only felt right to throw a big old birthday party to celebrate!
We ate cake. We played retro fairground games. We gave out awards. Basically, we had a jolly old knees up taking the time to celebrate those behind the scenes who have helped Festive Lights become what it is today.
We’re proud of the company we’ve become whilst still keeping our family-born roots firmly at the heart of everything we do. But, after 25 years, you’d think we’d be ready for a rest, right? Well, we’re not done yet! As we speak, we’re preparing for the release of our latest Connectables system and developing the next big thing in realistic flame LED candles.
The last 25 years have been ground-breaking, and we can’t wait to see what the next 25 years have in store for us.
